PongSpace and Major League Table Tennis Announce Resolution of Disputes
December 31, 2025 – PongSpace, the operator of George Braithwaite Major League Table Tennis
(“GBML”), a table tennis league owned by Luz Maria Brissett and Sharon Braithwaite and
operated by Rio Negro Investments Partners LLC (doing business as PongSpace), and Thomas
Hu, announce the resolution of claims against Major League Table Tennis (“MLTT”).
In November 2022, relatives and loved ones of table tennis legend and worldwide ambassador,
George “The Chief” Brathwaite, formed and started George Brathwaite Major League Table
Tennis. MLTT was the first to use MAJOR LEAGUE TABLE TENNIS in March 2023 in
connection with a professional table tennis league and the first to file a trademark application
with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. With each league incorporating the name “major
league table tennis”, disputes arose, leading PongSpace and the Braithwaite family to file a
lawsuit in federal court in connection with the name “major league table tennis”. PongSpace, Hu,
and the family of George Braithwaite, together with MLTT are pleased to announce the
resolution of all disputes, enabling each to advance and grow the game we all love.
The parties have agreed that GBML will transition to a new name, which continues to emphasize
the spirit and legacy of George Braithwaite. PongSpace and the Braithwaite family will continue
their mission to support table tennis in the United States, including making the sport more
accessible and inclusive throughout all levels of play and demographics under the George
Braithwaite name. George’s legacy as an icon of the sport is recognized among all table tennis
fans, and in his spirit PongSpace will continue the George Braithwaite league at Clubs,
tournaments, and among professional ranks.
The litigation between the parties has now been amicably resolved, the terms of which are
confidential.
The parties believe that resolution of the disputes will foster continued growth and visibility of
table tennis in the United States and beyond. The parties are supportive of each other’s efforts
and wish each other continued success.
